• Introduced phase distortion synthesis, a cousin to FM but easier to program
• Models included the CZ-101, CZ-1000, and CZ-1, each with unique polyphony and keyboard layouts
• Used digitally controlled oscillators and envelope shaping to create both analog + digital edginess
